Corporate Lawyer – M&A and Strategic Transactions

About the role

ANZ is seeking an experienced Corporate Lawyer to join its Corporate Legal team. The role will support major mergers and acquisitions, strategic transactions and corporate initiatives across the ANZ Group, working closely with business and government stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions.
• Partner with Group M&A, Strategy, Government Relations and business teams to achieve strategic outcomes.
• Assist with legal aspects of key projects, partnerships and corporate initiatives.
• Deliver pragmatic, commercially‑focused advice on a broad range of corporate matters.
• Collaborate with legal colleagues across ANZ to ensure integrated support.
• Build strong relationships with legal and non‑legal stakeholders.
• Support the Legal Director, Corporate on matters critical to the bank’s strategic agenda.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in corporate law and M&A.
• Strong commercial judgement and solution‑focused approach.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with legal and non‑legal stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to high‑quality outcomes.
