Registered Nurse – Neurosurgery & Spinal Theatre

About the role

Join Macquarie University Hospital’s specialised Neurosurgery and Spinal theatre team. You will support complex cranial and spinal procedures, delivering safe, patient‑centred care throughout the peri‑operative journey.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the operating theatre for intricate spinal and cranial surgeries, managing highly specialised instruments and equipment.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and respond promptly to the surgical team’s needs during procedures.
• Exercise independent professional judgement and critical thinking in fast‑paced, high‑risk situations.
• Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Recent peri‑operative theatre experience; neurosurgery/spinal experience desirable but not essential.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and multitasking abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible rostered shifts and on‑call arrangements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical records systems.
• Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
