Registered Nurse - Mental Health ICU

About the role

NSW Health is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its Mental Health Intensive Care Unit at Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Hospital, within Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Services. The nurse leads and supports quality patient health outcomes with a focus on recovery across health care settings, taking a leadership role in the nursing team by supporting, coaching and leading Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing. Permanent full-time and part-time positions are available.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate specific mental health nursing care activities that support the multidisciplinary health care team
• Ensure safe practice within adopted models of care
• Support, coach and lead nursing staff, including Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing

Required profile

• Division 1 Registered Nurse registered with AHPRA
• Current mental health, drug and alcohol clinical knowledge and clinical problem-solving ability
• Commitment to excellence in mental health nursing practice and continuing professional development
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
• Understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements of the Registered Nurse
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of the organisation's CORE values: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment
