Laboratory Production Scientist

About the role

Australian Scientific Enterprise (ASE) makes Quality Control (QC) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) materials for pathology laboratories worldwide. It is looking for an enthusiastic scientist to join its team, with hands-on training in producing pathology QC materials. The role combines laboratory production, post-production testing and project coordination, and includes exposure to research and product development. It is a full-time, permanent position in Hornsby, NSW, with standard hours Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Laboratory production: blood fractionation, high-precision pipetting, use of analytical balances and pH adjustment.
• Post-production testing using chemistry, coagulation, blood gas and point-of-care analysers.
• Overseeing contract-production projects from start to finish, including client communication, ordering materials and organising production.
• Exposure to research and product development, including literature reviews, pilot studies and transfer to full production.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Biomedical Science or a related scientific field.
• Positive attitude, attention to detail and enthusiasm for continuous learning.
• Interest in manufacturing and developing calibrators and pathology QC.
• Prior experience in pathology (biochemistry/multi-disciplinary preferred) or the IVD industry is valued, but training is offered to candidates with potential; practical laboratory experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Right to work in Australia.
