About the role
The Reception Services Officer provides the first impression of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, delivering courteous and professional front‑of‑house service to clients, the public and partner agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Manage telephone and reception desk enquiries, greeting all visitors and callers in a welcoming manner.
- Identify the purpose of each contact, assess service needs and direct callers or visitors to the appropriate person or agency.
- Provide accurate, up‑to‑date information and referrals as required.
- Undertake general administrative tasks to support the area’s operations.
- Maintain effective working relationships and liaise professionally with staff at all levels.
Required profile
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to respect diversity and respond promptly to needs.
- Ability to assess enquiries and provide appropriate responses.
- Eligibility to work in Australia (Australian citizen, permanent resident or valid visa).
