Quality & Operational Compliance Leader

About the role

Metrea is delivering effects-as-a-service to national security partners and is expanding its presence in Australia through its Asia-Pacific Market Group, based in Brisbane. As Quality & Operational Compliance Leader, you will lead the implementation, certification and ongoing maintenance of Metrea's Integrated Management System (IMS) in Australia. Your immediate priority is to establish and demonstrate the ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System needed to support the Australian contract, then coordinate the other management-system standards in the IMS (AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001) where applicable.

You will act as the in-country operational compliance specialist and join the enterprise Safety, Operational Compliance & Training team, partnering with Australian leaders and process owners to turn contractual, regulatory and certification requirements into practical processes and evidence, while providing independent assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and certification of the Australian Quality Management System to ISO 9001, keeping it within the required timeframe
• Coordinate implementation and governance of the wider IMS, including AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001 where applicable
• Maintain a register of contractual, customer, regulatory and management-system requirements, assign them to process owners and monitor evidence of conformity
• Develop proportionate processes, procedures, records and controls with Australian leaders and functional owners
• Run a risk-based programme of internal audits, compliance assessments and gap analyses, covering both documented arrangements and work as performed
• Coordinate external certification and surveillance audits, including planning, evidence readiness, registrar liaison, finding responses and verification of corrective actions
• Manage the non-conformance and corrective-action process, supporting root-cause analysis and escalation of overdue responses
• Prepare management-review inputs and coach teams on the IMS, audit readiness, process ownership and risk-based thinking
• Work with the Americas and EMEA Operational Compliance Specialists to keep standards consistent and share lessons

Required profile

• A recognised qualification in quality, engineering, aviation, business, risk, compliance or a related discipline, supported by relevant experience
• Ideally five plus years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance, operational compliance, management systems or regulatory compliance in aviation, aerospace, defence or another highly regulated sector
• Demonstrated experience implementing, maintaining or improving an ISO 9001-certified system
• Nice to have: Lead or Internal Auditor qualification for ISO 9001 or AS9100, and experience setting up a new certified system or extending certification to a new entity or geography

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and practical understanding of integrated management systems
• Planning and running internal audits, managing findings and verifying corrective actions
• Process ownership, risk-based thinking, root-cause analysis, performance measurement and management review
• Ability to turn contractual and technical requirements into clear processes and evidence
• Strong judgement, professional independence and communication skills in a global matrixed organisation
