Automation Technician – Brisbane

About the role

Spectrum Automation, part of Sentra Group, is expanding into Brisbane and is looking for an Automation Technician to join its founding team. The role covers the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimisation and commissioning of automation and control systems across a range of industrial environments, from breakdown response through to project delivery and system upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and maintain industrial automation and control systems
• Diagnose and fix complex automation and electrical faults in live industrial environments
• Assist with commissioning PLCs, SCADA, HMIs and VSDs
• Support shutdowns, upgrades, breakdown response and optimisation projects
• Integrate sensors, drives, instrumentation and automation devices
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and automation drawings
• Carry out preventative maintenance and reliability improvement work
• Maintain technical documentation and report on work
• Travel to client sites across Brisbane and surrounding regions as required

Required profile

• QLD Electrical Licence (essential)
• Minimum 3 years' experience in industrial automation or electrical maintenance
• Strong PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to interpret electrical and automation schematics
• Proactive, solutions-focused attitude and good communication and teamwork skills

Required skills

• PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting
• Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Schneider systems highly regarded
• Electrical schematics reading
