Quality Manager – South Australia

About the role

Laing O’Rourke is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join its AUKUS team on the Nuclear‑Powered Submarine Construction Yard project in Osborne, South Australia. You will be responsible for ensuring quality excellence across a nationally significant defence infrastructure programme.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, client specifications, industry standards and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Manage quality risks, non‑conformances, corrective actions, defects and audit programmes to drive project performance.
• Build and lead a high‑performing quality team through performance management, coaching and development.
• Oversee inspection and testing processes, quality documentation, records management and project handover requirements.
• Conduct internal and external audits of project teams, suppliers and contractors to verify quality outcomes and contractual compliance.
• Liaise with prime contractors, stakeholders and delivery teams to resolve quality issues and ensure timely achievement of project requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years construction/engineering project experience.
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent trade qualifications with demonstrated industry experience.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards (e.g., AS5131) and related standards such as ISO 19443.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Proven experience leading and developing high‑performing teams in complex project environments.
• Lead auditor qualification.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
