Public Relations Manager

About the role

BYD Australia is looking for a dynamic Public Relations Manager to lead product communications and enhance brand visibility for BYD and DENZA in the Australian market. Based at the Mulgrave head office, this full‑time position will shape media strategy, manage launch campaigns, and advise senior leadership on communications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product communications and act as primary media contact for BYD and DENZA across automotive, lifestyle, business and technology outlets.
• Develop and execute launch communications strategies, including national media events, first‑drive programmes and press‑test vehicle activities.
• Manage press‑fleet logistics, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain accurate fleet records.
• Monitor media and social channels, prepare reactive statements, and support crisis communication plans.
• Analyse media coverage, set KPIs, report insights and provide strategic recommendations to local teams.
• Liaise with external PR agencies, photographers, videographers and freelance writers, handling workflows, approvals and invoicing.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in automotive or related PR/communications roles.
• Established relationships with Australian automotive, business, technology and lifestyle journalists.
• Proven track record managing vehicle launches, media reviews and publicity campaigns.
• Strong writing ability and confidence interacting with senior leaders and media representatives.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint for creating presentations and reports.
• Experience with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and best‑practice content planning.
