Psychologist / Clinical Psychologist – Sleep Clinic

About the role

The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, a not-for-profit sleep and respiratory health research centre, is recruiting two Psychologists or Clinical Psychologists for its multidisciplinary clinic. The clinic provides evidence-based care for people with sleep disorders, respiratory conditions and co-occurring mental health challenges, using state-of-the-art PSG sleep study facilities. Clients present with sleep disorders such as insomnia and circadian rhythm disturbances, often alongside anxiety, depression, PTSD, neurodivergence and other mental health concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological care to clients referred from a wide geographical area
• Work independently while being part of a supportive, research-informed team
• Contribute to the clinic's work, including developing and offering group therapy

Required profile

• A relevant qualification in psychology
• Experience in behavioural sleep medicine and CBT-I, or willingness to develop expertise in this area
• Full registration as a psychologist or clinical psychologist with AHPRA
• Eligibility for a Medicare provider number, an ABN and professional indemnity insurance
• High standard of ethical practice and commitment to ongoing professional development
• Valid working rights in Australia

Required skills

• CBT-I and behavioural sleep medicine
• Desirable: experience in health psychology or private practice
• Desirable: familiarity with ACT, EMDR, mindfulness-based approaches or other evidence-based therapies for sleep and mental health
• Desirable: interest in research, program development or training; registered for workers' compensation
