Project Officer – Palliative Medicines in Community Pharmacies

About the role

The Project Officer will lead the development, implementation and delivery of the Palliative Medicines in Community Pharmacies (PMCP) program. This newly created position aims to enhance the capacity of community pharmacies to provide palliative medicines and services to Canberrans receiving care at home.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design the program and its evaluation framework with ACT health stakeholders.
• Coordinate program deliverables, including pharmacy recruitment, communities of practice and the ACT Palliative Care Core Medicines List.
• Facilitate targeted training, education and quality‑improvement initiatives for pharmacy staff.
• Collaborate with palliative prescribers, primary‑care providers and ACT Health and Community Service Directorate.
• Collect and analyse data to monitor performance and support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Experience managing cross‑sector health programs in primary, community or aged‑care settings.
• Familiarity with ACT palliative‑care systems, stakeholders and service‑delivery models.
• Strong project‑management capabilities with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement and co‑design skills.
• Pharmacy qualification or registration is desirable but not essential.
