Project Engineer – Defence Infrastructure

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of critical Defence infrastructure within the Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) South Australia program. The role involves hands‑on planning, cost control, site delivery and coordination of subcontractors while working closely with design and construction teams in a highly regulated Defence environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support multidisciplinary scopes across roads, civil and structural works.
• Assist with programming, short‑term and look‑ahead planning.
• Contribute to cost management, project controls and forecasting.
• Manage and track subcontractor performance.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure constructability, compliance and value for money.
• Implement and maintain stringent quality assurance processes aligned with Defence standards.
• Develop construction methods and sequencing to optimise cost and time.
• Prepare reports and communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of site‑based delivery experience.
• Proven experience in roads, bulk earthworks, structures or multidisciplinary civil scopes.
• Strong understanding of project programming, cost control and forecasting.
• Experience working with subcontractors in a live construction environment.
• High level of written and verbal communication skills.
