Project Engineer - Civil

About the role

The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone Transmission Project is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer – Civil to support the design, construction and delivery of high‑capacity transmission lines and energy hubs. You will work within a joint‑venture team to ensure civil works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop relationships with project personnel and external stakeholders to maintain a collaborative environment.
• Attend pre‑start meetings, toolbox talks and construction‑related meetings, and conduct site walks to monitor progress.
• Report downtime and non‑conformances promptly according to quality procedures.
• Track progress and financial performance against budget, handling progress claims, variations and subcontractor assessments.
• Contribute to the 3‑week look‑ahead and construction programme, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Implement risk controls to improve safety, financial and engineering performance.
• Maintain two‑way communication with the construction team to coordinate critical tasks and equipment schedules.
• Analyse equipment requirements and prepare a plant schedule aligned with the programme.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Tier 1 contractor experience on large‑scale projects involving foundations, piling and bulk earthworks.
• Experience with outdoor air‑insulated substations at 220 kV or higher.
• Proven problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent safety awareness and attitude.

• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
• Understanding of project policies, contractual requirements and relevant legislation.
