Project Director – Manufacturing

About the role

This senior position leads the end‑to‑end delivery of a nationally significant advanced manufacturing facility in Sydney CBD. Reporting to senior executives and government stakeholders, you will provide strategic direction from concept through to operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute strategy across land identification, planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations.
• Lead executive steering committees, government agencies and industry stakeholder engagements.
• Establish governance, risk management and reporting frameworks.
• Integrate IT, operational technology (OT) and data infrastructure into facility design.
• Coordinate construction teams and advanced manufacturing system installers.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, sustainability and performance.
• Champion modern methods of construction (MMC), modularisation and innovative manufacturing practices.
• Build partnerships with universities, training providers and research organisations.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management or related discipline.
• Proven experience leading large‑scale infrastructure, industrial or advanced technology facility projects.
• Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing systems, MMC and modular construction.
• Experience integrating robotics, automation and digital manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of IT/OT integration, data infrastructure and smart manufacturing environments.
• Commercial, procurement and contract management expertise.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience in complex government or highly regulated project environments is highly regarded.
