Project Cost Controller

About the role

Altrad is seeking an experienced Project Cost Controller for its Projects West business at the Kwinana facility. Reporting to the Fabrication Manager and supported by the Head of Project Controls, you will provide cost, productivity, forecasting and performance insights to enable effective commercial decision‑making across fabrication projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and manage project cost trackers aligned to WBS structures and cost codes, monitor commitments, actual costs, labour hours, plant utilisation and project expenditure.
• Prepare weekly cost and productivity reports, monthly commercial reporting packs and maintain Forecast Cost at Completion (FCAC) and Cost to Complete (CTC) forecasts.
• Analyse labour productivity, cost productivity and plant utilisation metrics, identify trends and risks, and deliver insights to improve performance.
• Support Earned Value Management reporting, monitor CPI, SPI and other performance indicators, and communicate variances impacting project delivery.
• Consolidate reporting across fabrication projects, work with Finance on month‑end reporting, reconcile project and financial data and ensure data integrity.
• Assist with client payment claims, identify risks and opportunities, and provide timely commercial insights for strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Cost Control or Project Controls roles, preferably on heavy industrial, fabrication, construction or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with understanding of cost control principles, forecasting, budgeting, variance reporting and Earned Value Management.
• Qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related discipline are highly regarded.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Power BI or similar BI platforms.
• Familiarity with ERP and cost management systems such as Pronto, SAP, JDE or Oracle.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management and productivity analysis.
