About the role
The University of Newcastle is seeking a distinguished Professor to lead a new capability in Computing and Information Technology. This senior academic position will shape a high‑impact agenda across research, teaching and external engagement within the School of Computer and Information Sciences.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead a strategic research programme in trustworthy AI, AI engineering, cybersecurity and human‑centred computing.
- Secure competitive research funding and build partnerships with industry and government.
- Mentor emerging academics and supervise postgraduate research.
- Design and deliver innovative curricula that align with future‑focused industry needs.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across Computing, Data Science, Statistics and Mathematics.
Required profile
- Proven record of research leadership and high‑impact publications.
- Successful track record in obtaining competitive research grants.
- Experience in external engagement and industry collaboration.
- Ability to articulate a compelling vision for growth in applied computing.
