Professional Urban Planner

About the role

Join AECOM’s Urbanism & Planning team in Melbourne to support major infrastructure projects. You will work collaboratively with planners, designers, architects and technical specialists to deliver high‑quality planning outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare planning reports, due‑diligence assessments and approval documentation for large‑scale transport, energy and infrastructure projects.
• Conduct research, policy reviews and analysis to shape planning strategies and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide planning inputs for project approvals and support directors in business development.

Required profile

• Degree in Town or Urban Planning (or related discipline) with 2‑4 years of professional planning experience, preferably in consultancy.
• Experience preparing planning assessments, due‑diligence reports and development applications for large‑scale projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Working knowledge of GIS or other spatial analysis tools.
