Professional Engineer – Bridge and Civil Structures

About the role

Join AECOM as a Professional Engineer responsible for planning, designing, assessing and delivering bridge and civil structure projects across Western Australia. You will apply Australian Standards and ensure safe, durable, and constructible outcomes while supporting construction teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design concrete and steel bridges, foundations, bearings and related components in line with AS 5100, Austroads and Main Roads WA standards.
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, drainage and road design disciplines.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability discussions and safety‑in‑design processes.
• Provide design clarifications and site inspections during construction.
• Mentor junior staff and liaise with clients and authorities such as Main Roads WA.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 3–7 years experience in bridge or heavy civil structural design, preferably within an engineering consultancy.
• Progressing toward Chartered (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (SpaceGass, Strand7, LUSAS or Midas).
• Familiarity with MRWA standards and approval processes (desirable).
