Product Owner – Data

About the role

A permanent, hybrid Product Owner (Data) role focused on owning the data product so that merchandise data is accurate, accessible and useful across the business. The owner works between business and technology teams, turning requirements into clear priorities and deliverables. The role suits someone who has actually owned a data product, not just worked alongside one.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the data product
• Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, challenges and priorities
• Turn business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria and an actionable product backlog
• Work with Data Engineering, Analytics and Technology teams to deliver enhancements
• Improve the quality, consistency, accessibility and completeness of merchandise data
• Support integration of new data sources and improvements to data governance and catalogue processes
• Facilitate workshops and build adoption through stakeholder engagement, documentation and training
• Monitor data quality and product performance and drive ongoing improvement

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, particularly on data products, ideally in a retail environment
• Experience working across business stakeholders, Data Engineering and Analytics teams
• Experience in Agile environments, including Jira and Confluence
• Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
• Ability to turn complex business requirements into deliverable technical work
• Australian Permanent Resident, Australian Citizen or holder of a valid working permit

Required skills

• Understanding of product data, taxonomy, attributes and product lifecycle management
• Knowledge of data quality, data governance and Master Data Management
• Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence

The advertised salary is $170,000 - $175,000 plus superannuation.
