Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Procurement Specialist supports the procurement function at Auto & General by assisting with sourcing, tendering and contract formation for a variety of goods and services. The role works closely with senior procurement staff, account executives and contract owners to ensure efficient, compliant procurement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Procurement Specialist in developing and implementing sourcing strategies.
• Prepare tender documentation, manage tender administration, and coordinate evaluation activities.
• Conduct market research and analysis to inform sourcing decisions.
• Assist with supplier due‑diligence, financial analysis and reference checks.
• Support contract negotiations and prepare contract summaries for approval.
• Coordinate contract execution and hand‑over to Supplier Relationship Specialists.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier engagements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or related field (CIPS qualification desirable).
• Minimum 5 years experience in supplier relationship management, governance and risk management, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Understanding of sourcing strategies, tendering processes and contract management principles.
• Knowledge of procurement legislation, with experience of CPS231 or CPS230 highly desirable.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
