Procurement Officer

About the role

The Procurement Officer will provide proactive procurement support across all revenue streams of Saab Business, including capture‑phase activities for new opportunities. You will be an integral member of the Supply Chain Team and Business Service Group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and implement procurement processes for project and company needs.
• Coordinate internal customers, external suppliers, and competing priorities to ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain vendor analysis programs and drive cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Conduct technical, business and process analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
• Establish quality processes and reporting for project‑specific contracts.
• Develop, negotiate and manage contractual agreements with a focus on profit, risk and performance.
• Support the Procurement Manager in promoting the function and delivering optimal outcomes.
• Partner with business units to identify procurement needs and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in commerce or business (desirable).
• Experience in a commercial environment with contract preparation and management.
• Understanding of procurement methodologies and large multi‑discipline engineering or defence projects.
• Knowledge of basic accounting practices (desirable).
• Familiarity with Australian Defence Industry contracting (ASDEFCON) and export control processes (desirable).
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain NV1/NV2 defence security clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IFS and SharePoint.
• Knowledge of ASDEFCON procurement processes.
• Understanding of Australian and US government export control procedures.
