Procurement Manager - Build a New Procurement Function

About the role

JR Richards & Sons is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to establish and lead a newly created procurement function, reporting directly to the CFO. The role suits a commercially driven professional who wants to build frameworks, influence strategic decisions and deliver measurable business value within a well-established, growing national organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's procurement strategy, annual plans, policies, procedures, governance frameworks and systems
• Lead strategic sourcing, RFQ and tender processes for operational and capital expenditure
• Negotiate commercial agreements, handle contract renewals and manage supplier performance
• Manage supplier onboarding, due diligence and performance reviews, and build strong supplier and contractor relationships
• Monitor procurement spend, compliance and reporting, and identify and mitigate supply chain, contractual and commercial risks
• Support the evaluation and implementation of procurement technology solutions
• Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Fleet, Finance, IT and HR to deliver procurement outcomes

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, Commerce, Business, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Demonstrated success in procurement, strategic sourcing and contract management
• Experience developing procurement policies, governance frameworks and reporting processes
• Commercial, financial and analytical capability, with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Desirable: CIPS qualification or membership, and experience in waste management, transport, logistics, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities or other asset-intensive industries
