Job description
About the role
A leading supplier to the global resources sector is recruiting, through its recruiter, a Procurement Specialist for its Asia Pacific Supply Chain and Procurement team. The role leads the freight and logistics categories that move product safely between plants, sites and customers, reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager. It is full-time and permanent, based in Brisbane with occasional site visits.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a range of categories at once, with road transport as the primary focus: bulk and dangerous goods haulage, linehaul, site transfers, specialised transport and dedicated fleet arrangements, with support for sea and air freight where needed.
- Run sourcing events, planning each package of work with the Manager before releasing to market, then negotiate and conclude contracts.
- Develop and maintain freight category strategies balancing safety, operational risk, cost, service, sustainability and capacity.
- Analyse freight spend, routes, volumes and service performance to find cost reduction and optimisation opportunities.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing, including market engagement, RFx development, evaluation, negotiation and recommendations.
- Negotiate commercial terms covering linehaul, fuel and accessorial pricing, SLAs, KPIs, escalation frameworks and risk allocation.
- Ensure transport contracts meet Chain of Responsibility, dangerous goods and international trade obligations, and administer contracts through performance monitoring, renewals and variations.
- Run supplier performance reviews and strengthen carrier capability.
- Partner with other teams on transport requirements and constraints, and support capital projects with logistics strategies.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, Law, Engineering or a related discipline.
- CIPS/MCIPS or equivalent accreditation (or progress toward it) well regarded.
- Experience in freight, logistics or transport procurement; resources, utilities or industrial logistics background and exposure to site services categories are well regarded.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, including cost modelling, spend analysis and market assessment.
- Proven negotiation experience across transport and logistics contracts (or the ability to do so).
- Sound understanding of contracts and regulation, and exceptional communication skills.
What we offer
- Salary of $145,000 - $155,000 per annum.
- A clear career pathway from Specialist to Procurement Manager and on to Senior Manager.
- Flexible working arrangements considered individually.
Applications are made through the recruiter, Six Degrees Executive, by contacting the Client Services Director.
