Privacy & Technology Lawyer

About the role

Join a nationally recognised law firm’s expanding Privacy & Technology team in Canberra, working directly with an experienced Partner to deliver specialist legal advice to government and private sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on privacy, data protection and Freedom of Information matters.
• Advise on AI, emerging technologies, data governance and regulatory compliance.
• Support government information sharing initiatives and ICT procurement.
• Draft and negotiate technology contracts and provide commercial legal advice.

Required profile

• Lawyer or Associate with 2–4 years post‑admission experience.
• Eligible for an Australian Government security clearance.
• Interest in developing a career in privacy and technology law, from any practice background.

Required skills

• Knowledge of privacy, data protection and FOI legislation.
• Understanding of AI, emerging tech and data governance frameworks.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and ICT procurement processes.
• Ability to advise on technology contracts and commercial matters.
