Printer / Press Operator

About the role

Multi-Color Corporation is seeking an experienced Printer / Press Operator to join its Melbourne plant. You will run advanced 6‑ and 8‑colour Heidelberg XL presses with Cutstar reel‑fed units, supporting the production of high‑quality labels for FMCG, pharmaceutical and other sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Operate Heidelberg XL printing presses and die cutters on a night‑shift schedule.
• Interpret job tickets, set up presses and perform colour checks to meet quality standards.
• Execute efficient changeovers, minimizing downtime and waste.
• Troubleshoot mechanical or printing issues and perform basic maintenance.
• Lead and support printer assistants, coordinating with pre‑press and finishing teams.
• Capture production data, provide feedback and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified printer or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Proven experience operating multi‑colour Heidelberg presses; Cutstar experience is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of colour management and print‑quality standards.
• Physically fit and able to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Team‑player with good communication and organisational skills.
