Principal Workplace Health and Safety Advisor

About the role

Randstad is recruiting a Principal Workplace Health and Safety Advisor (A06) for a government agency in Cairns, Queensland, focused on building and maintenance infrastructure. The role suits an experienced HSE advisor and follows a Monday to Friday schedule so you can get home every night.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate HSE management systems to improve business performance and compliance and promote a safety culture across the organisation
• Advise on compliance with regulatory, contractual and company frameworks
• Manage incident investigations
• Schedule and carry out audits, observations, risk assessments, management review meetings and document reviews
• Produce concise reports and statistical HSE information
• Facilitate risk management and HSE training with People and Training and Development officers, including helping develop training needs analyses
• Handle client liaison and reporting

Required profile

• Formal qualification in SHEQ
• SHEQ auditors' course (desirable)
• Cert IV Workplace Trainer and Assessor (desirable)

Required skills

• Strong report writing and ability to turn statistical data into clear insights
• Negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills
