Principal Ventilation Consultant

About the role

Orelogy, part of the Perenti Group, is a global mining consultancy offering independent technical and strategic advice across the mining lifecycle. It is seeking an experienced Principal Ventilation Consultant for its Perth-based team, based in the Perth CBD office on St Georges Terrace. The role combines technical leadership, consulting and client engagement with Australian and international site travel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide principal-level ventilation engineering support across a portfolio of underground mining operations and projects.
• Lead ventilation design, governance and technical assurance, and conduct audits, model reviews, compliance assessments and performance reviews.
• Review, develop and maintain Ventilation Management Plans (VMPs).
• Lead ventilation system design, fan selection, airflow optimisation and infrastructure planning.
• Support operational and study teams, lead incident investigations, root cause analyses and risk assessments.
• Review and validate ventilation models using Ventsim and other industry-standard software.
• Contribute to tender submissions, technical due diligence and risk assessments, and mentor ventilation engineers and consultants.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of underground ventilation engineering experience, including significant operational and technical leadership.
• First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (FCMM) highly regarded.
• Experience leading audits, investigations, compliance reviews and technical assurance programs.
• Ability to influence senior operational, technical and executive stakeholders; proven mentoring experience.
• Willingness to travel within Australia and internationally.

Required skills

• Expertise in underground mine ventilation design, planning, governance and risk management.
• Advanced proficiency with Ventsim, VUMA and platforms such as Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight or Surpac.
• High-level technical report writing, communication and presentation skills.
