Principal Project Officer – Games Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Project Officer to join the Games Infrastructure (Venues and Villages) division and help deliver the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Athlete Villages. The role will focus on coordinating project controls, risk reporting and governance across complex infrastructure projects, ensuring successful delivery and lasting legacy for Queensland communities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage state requirements for planning, development and delivery of the Athlete Villages, including scheduling, coordination, reporting and governance activities.
• Support project and program controls such as milestone tracking, change management, risk management and performance reporting.
• Contribute to delivery assurance processes to monitor progress and ensure contractual and governance requirements are met.
• Coordinate with government agencies, Brisbane 2032 and delivery partners to align governance arrangements, village requirements and legacy outcomes.
• Prepare briefings, submissions, strategic advice and other documentation to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven capability in project and programme management, with experience coordinating complex activities and monitoring delivery performance.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify risks, issues and opportunities and develop practical solutions.
• Demonstrated understanding of governance practices and compliance with project controls and reporting frameworks.
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities, capable of preparing clear advice and building stakeholder confidence.
• Ability to build effective relationships across government, industry and delivery partners.
