Principal Legal Officer (Commercial, Property & Insurance)

About the role

NHVR is recruiting a Principal Legal Officer with a strong background in technology contracts, commercial transactions and intellectual property (IP). This is a hybrid role with a regulatory focus, reporting directly to the Manager of Legal Services within a supportive, high-performing legal team. The position can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane or Parramatta.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on contracts, intellectual property, procurement, compliance and insurance matters
• Lead or support negotiations with suppliers, government bodies, private entities and other parties
• Provide legal advice and support on technology and commercial contracts, MOUs, IP protection, procurement and probity, privacy and data protection, risk management, corporate compliance and insurance
• Help shape NHVR's legal strategies and policies
• Promote legal risk management aligned with NHVR's governance standards

Required profile

• At least 7 years' experience as a legal practitioner in commercial/regulatory law
• Admission to practice law in the High Court or a State/Territory Supreme Court
• Strong experience in commercial law and contract negotiation, and in technology contract review and preparation
• Ability to work strategically, flexibly and independently
• Commercially minded, with excellent communication and client service skills, and confidence in negotiating and influencing stakeholders
