Principal GTM Lead, Portfolio Strategy
NetApp
Job description
About the role
The Principal GTM Lead, Portfolio Strategy is a senior individual contributor role at NetApp that bridges Business Unit Product Management, Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, the global technical field organization (Sales Engineers, Principal GTM Architects and Partner Technical Leaders) and the Client Executive Sales organization. Acting as Chief Field Advocate and GTM Strategist, the role ensures every product launch, NDA roadmap disclosure and solution narrative is technically sound, field-ready and actionable for sellers.
Key responsibilities
- Develop "how-to-sell" plays: installed-base modernization, net-new customer acquisition, new workloads (Enterprise GenAI, virtualization, cyber vaulting, hybrid multicloud) and deal qualification criteria.
- Integrate competitive differentiation into launches, roadmaps, FAQs and solution decks, and deconstruct competitor claims with Competitive Intelligence.
- Lead monthly NDA roadmap enablement sessions for global SEs, GTM Architects and partner technical leaders, and design presentation frameworks for executive briefings.
- Review launch assets (whitepapers, battlecards, decks) for technical accuracy and quality assurance, and mentor peers.
- Bridge stakeholders across BU General Managers, Product Management, PMM and regional SE leadership, and channel field and customer feedback into product development gates and RFE prioritization.
Required profile
- Typically 15+ years of progressive experience in senior technical go-to-market roles (Senior/Principal Sales Engineer, Field CTO, Principal GTM Architect, TME or Technical Product Manager).
- Track record of creating field-adopted sales plays, customer journey maps and technical messaging.
- Ability to influence senior leaders (VPs, GMs, Directors) without direct authority.
Required skills
- Hands-on knowledge of enterprise storage architectures (unified file, block, object), flash storage economics, cyber-vaulting and hybrid cloud integration.
- Strongly preferred: deep familiarity with the NetApp portfolio (ONTAP, Cloud, ASA/AFF/FAS, StorageGRID, Keystone, NetApp Console).
- Competitive acumen across on-premises and hyperscaler cloud storage rivals (Pure Storage, Dell, HPE, VAST Data).
- Executive-ready presentations and storytelling with senior technical leaders.
What we offer
- Salary range of 227,800 - 338,800 USD, depending on location, qualifications and experience.
- Possible benefits: health insurance, life insurance, retirement or pension plans, paid time off, leave options, performance-based incentives, employee stock purchase plan and/or RSUs.
- Hybrid working environment; in-office expectations are shared during recruitment.
