Principal Drainage Engineer – Relocate to Perth

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Drainage Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team in Perth. You will lead the technical delivery of complex drainage and stormwater projects across major infrastructure sectors, using 12D and other hydraulic modelling tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver drainage solutions, stormwater management plans and hydraulic assessments for large‑scale projects.
• Provide expert input on hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using 12D, DRAINS and other modelling software.
• Mentor junior engineers, review designs and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
• Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders to offer technical advice and support business development.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in stormwater and drainage hydraulics within a consulting or multidisciplinary environment.
• Proven technical leadership, design review and mentoring abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commercial awareness and experience on major infrastructure projects (road, rail, defence, energy, etc.).
