Principal Bridge Design Engineer

About the role

Lead technical design and act as the Design Authority for major bridge projects, delivering complex solutions such as major river crossings, long‑span structures, and freight or rail infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level technical review, design certification and risk management for bridge projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary design teams and ensure compliance with AS 5100, Austroads, MRWA and project‑specific requirements.
• Support bids, tenders and proposals with methodology, resourcing and fee inputs.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and represent the business at client meetings and industry forums.

Required profile

• 15+ years’ experience in bridge and major infrastructure design.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) – Engineers Australia.
• Experience with Main Roads WA projects and standards.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary design teams in a consultancy environment.

Required skills

• Bridge design and engineering.
