Pre-Registration Pharmacist – 2027 Intake

About the role

The Canberra Health Services Pharmacy Department is seeking a Pre‑Registration Pharmacist for the 2027 intake. This is a one‑year intern training position within the Division of Medical Services, offering exposure to a broad range of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services across multiple hospital sites.

Key responsibilities

• Perform intern pharmacist duties under the guidance of the Lead Pharmacist for Education and Training.
• Provide a range of pharmacy services, including weekend and after‑hours shifts as rostered.
• Work across various CHS pharmacy sites according to the roster.
• Comply with CHS occupational assessment, screening, vaccination, credentialing, and scope of practice policies.
• Undertake required pre‑employment checks, including a National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People registration.

Required profile

• Passion for learning and delivering high‑quality patient care.
• Availability for weekend and after‑hours work on a rostered basis.
• Eligibility to sit for written and oral AHPRA exams as soon as practice hour requirements are met.
• Current registration under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
• Ability to meet practice hour requirements for registration.

Required skills

• Provision of pharmacy services in a hospital setting.
• Understanding of clinical pharmacy practice and medication management.
