PR Account Manager - Digital PR

About the role

A digital agency in Sydney, working with well-known brands in Australia and overseas, is looking for a PR Account Manager to run its outreach work. The team helps brands earn visibility beyond their own websites, running placements that tell a brand's story and make it easier to find in search, including on Google, in AI answers and on Reddit. The role sits alongside SEO specialists and involves owning a portfolio of Australian and international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Run digital PR campaigns designed to earn links and mentions on high-authority sites
• Choose target publications using SEO and GEO criteria, then pitch journalists, editors and site owners
• Help brands appear in AI answers by getting them into articles and listicles used by tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews
• Respond to journalist requests daily, often within 24 hours, with brand-safe responses
• Analyse competitors' backlink profiles and find unlinked brand mentions to reclaim
• Report on organic performance using tools such as Ahrefs and Google Search Console
• Own a portfolio of clients and work with the SEO and content teams on integrated campaigns
• Line manage one junior team member and help shape new programs around Reddit and AI visibility

Required profile

• A few years in PR, comms or digital PR, with campaigns you're proud of and journalist relationships you built yourself
• Experience managing clients directly, setting expectations and delivering difficult news
• Strong writing, from a short pitch to longer content, and comfort with numbers and reports
• Experience managing or mentoring someone; former journalists moving into PR are very welcome
• Self-starter who enjoys shaping the role and is curious about where PR is heading
