Plant Operator

About the role

Wollongong City Council is offering two permanent full-time Plant Operator positions. The work is varied and hands-on across Wollongong, with a 9-day fortnight schedule and a regular rostered day off. The salary is $82,086 to $89,353 per year, depending on skills and experience, plus superannuation.

Key responsibilities

• Operate trucks, mobile plant and equipment across a range of projects.
• Support civil construction and maintain infrastructure, parks and public spaces.
• Assist waste recovery services and other operational teams as needed.
• Carry out outdoor manual tasks and general labouring duties.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required; the role demands physical capability for outdoor work and manual tasks.

Required profile

• Experienced plant operator who has operated machinery such as backhoes, excavators, skid steer machines and trucks.
• Current MR Driver Licence as a minimum.
• Current industry-recognised licence for HRP Front End Loader Operations, or willingness to obtain one.
• General Induction (White Card).
• Current plant Certificate of Competency from a Registered Training Organisation, or evidence of a previously held WorkCover National Certificate.
• Strong awareness of workplace health and safety practices.
• Confidence using tablets and digital systems to complete timesheets, inspections and job records.
