Plant Accountant

About the role

The JBS Beef City Processing Plant in Toowoomba is looking for an experienced Plant/Management Accountant for a full-time permanent position. Reporting directly to the site Finance Business Partner, you will support the operational and financial performance of the site by collecting, analysing and recording plant data to prepare weekly and monthly financial and operational reports.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the integrity of the plant's financial records: prepare journals, complete general ledger reconciliations and deliver month-end reporting with analysis of operating costs and performance trends.
• Provide financial insights and support across plant performance, and respond to financial queries from senior management.
• Maintain inventory controls, including reconciliation of hides, skins, by-products, dry goods and off-site inventory.
• Review and code accounts payable invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with company processes.
• Monitor AFE projects through to completion and help capitalise assets so financial records reflect operational investments and project outcomes.

Required profile

• Tertiary accounting qualification and professional membership (CA, CPA or CMA).
• Experience in a management accounting role in a large commercial business.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and ability to identify basic cause-and-effect relationships.
• Ability to prioritise, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong commercial acumen, excellent oral and written communication, and ability to work autonomously and within a team.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel (macros, PowerPoint, Word)
• Data reporting tools such as Power BI or QlikSense desirable
• SAP 4 Hana experience desirable but not essential
