Pharmacy Technician – Hospital (Temporary until Feb 2027)

About the role

Hunter New England Local Health District is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician (Grade 2) for its hospital pharmacy, working 38 hours per week and reporting to the Director of Pharmacy. The role supports the safe and efficient supply of medications across the wards, and is open to Grade 2 technicians, with Grade 1 technicians and pharmacy assistants encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Inpatient, discharge and outpatient dispensing
• Ward imprest management and inventory control
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives
• Working with pharmacists, pharmacy support staff, patients and the wider multidisciplinary team

Required profile

• Completed a minimum of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate IV in Hospital Pharmacy or Community Dispensary, or equivalent qualifications deemed acceptable by the employer
• Motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn, with a strong attention to detail
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Organisational and problem-solving skills, able to work self-directed with minimal supervision in a busy environment
• Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency or a New Zealand passport; temporary visa holders may only be considered if no suitable local candidate is found, and visa sponsorship is not available
