Personal Care Assistant

About the role

Mercy Health is hiring a Personal Care Assistant for its Mercy Place facility in Mentone, Melbourne. This is a casual position where you will support residents with their day-to-day care needs, following care plans set by registered nurses and healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
• Help with mobility, including transfers from bed to chair, walking assistance and safe use of mobility aids.
• Support feeding and special dietary needs, and assist with medication reminders under a nurse's guidance.
• Help maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping such as making beds and cleaning rooms.
• Help organise and run activities that support physical, emotional and cognitive well-being.
• Respond to residents' requests promptly and professionally, follow care plans, and keep residents' privacy and dignity.
• Follow safety protocols, including infection control and use of personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• A minimum Certificate III or Cert IV in Aged Care or Individual Support.
• Evidence of NDIS clearance, or proof that you are in the process of obtaining it.
• Resilience, compassion and commitment to person-centred care.
