Payroll Team Lead

About the role

Troocoo is recruiting, on behalf of its client, an experienced Payroll Team Lead based in South Brisbane. The role leads a hands-on payroll team of about nine people within a large, complex organisation undergoing significant transformation. The position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the payroll team, giving clear direction, regular feedback and ongoing support.
• Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of wages and salaried payrolls across multiple entities.
• Review and approve payroll outputs, banking files and related payments.
• Provide technical guidance on enterprise agreements, awards, payroll legislation and time and attendance.
• Partner with HR, finance, operational sites and external providers to resolve payroll issues.
• Identify and implement improvements that streamline processes, improve accuracy and reduce manual work.
• Support payroll system changes, testing and transformation initiatives.
• Monitor payroll queries, outstanding work and service levels, and build effective relationships across the business.

Required profile

• At least five years of end-to-end payroll experience in a complex organisation.
• Previous experience leading and developing a payroll team.
• Experience with both wages and salaried payrolls.
• Sound knowledge of enterprise agreements, awards and Australian payroll legislation.
• Hands-on leadership style with a proactive approach to process improvement.
• Full Australian working rights and current residence in Queensland; pre-employment checks including a police check and medical assessment are required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of enterprise agreements, awards and Australian payroll legislation.
• Experience with Preceda or Dayforce is highly regarded.

• Paying up to $130,000 plus superannuation depending on experience.
