Payroll Services Manager

About the role

KONE, an innovation leader in the elevator and escalator industry, is looking for an experienced Payroll Services Manager to lead its payroll function across KONE Australia and New Zealand. This is a key leadership role responsible for accurate, timely and compliant payroll delivery, team leadership, governance and controls, and continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll delivery across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring accurate and timely pay, strong reconciliations, data integrity and effective payroll controls.
• Lead and develop a high-performing payroll team, setting clear accountability, service standards and handling complex escalations.
• Own payroll compliance, governance and risk, meeting legislative and regulatory requirements, managing audits and maintaining robust controls.
• Drive payroll transformation and continuous improvement through technology, automation and data, partnering with People & Communications, Finance, Legal and business leaders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience leading a payroll team in a complex Australian environment.
• Experience managing payroll in New Zealand is an advantage.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a payroll team in a complex, multi-site environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in payroll governance, compliance, audit management, systems optimisation and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder management and customer-service skills, with attention to detail and functional leadership.
• Experience in a large or multinational organisation is highly regarded.
• Applicants must be an Australian permanent resident or citizen, or a New Zealand citizen.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and leave entitlements.
• Advantageous: experience using Definitiv or a similar contemporary payroll platform.
