Payroll Officer

About the role

NRW, a civil and mining contractor with over 30 years' experience, is hiring a Payroll Officer in Perth. Reporting to the Lead Payroll, you will work in a fast-paced, timesheet-driven environment, entering and checking a high volume of timesheets, maintaining employee records and helping the wider team meet critical payroll deadlines. Training and support are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and review a high volume of employee timesheets and check them for accuracy, completeness and approvals
• Follow up on missing, incomplete or incorrect timesheet information
• Assist with payroll processing across multiple entities
• Set up new employees and maintain accurate payroll records
• Process employee changes, leave, allowances, deductions and other payroll information
• Respond to employee and manager payroll enquiries promptly and professionally
• Assist with payroll calculations, reconciliations, reporting and audits
• Work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance and operational teams, and support the team during busy periods
• Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information accurately

Required profile

• Previous payroll or administration experience, including payroll, accounts or high-volume data entry
• Strong data-entry skills with speed and accuracy, and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work in a busy, deadline-driven environment and manage changing priorities
• Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills
• Australian work rights

Required skills

• Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
• PayGlobal is highly regarded but not essential
• An understanding of payroll terminology and processes is advantageous
