Patient Services Assistant

About the role

The Patient Services Assistant supports nursing staff in a dialysis clinic by performing essential non‑clinical duties that ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients and visitors. This role combines organizational tasks with direct patient interaction to help deliver high‑quality dialysis care.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of patient areas, dialysis machines, chairs, and isolation rooms according to policy.
• Prepare and deliver meals, manage meal ordering, and serve refreshments to patients and visitors.
• Arrange patient transport for dialysis treatments.
• Restock consumables, monitor inventory, place orders, receive deliveries, and conduct stocktakes.
• Handle linen, rubbish, and contaminated waste disposal, and manage linen ordering and storage.
• Assist with basic blood sample collection and laboratory procedures.
• Participate in quality‑improvement activities and uphold workplace health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Certificate or equivalent qualification as a Patient Service Assistant.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Team‑player attitude with the ability to work independently.
• Commitment to quality‑improvement initiatives and patient privacy.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy.
• Food preparation and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of infection control and hygiene principles.
• Understanding of work health and safety requirements.
