About the role

Rugby World Cup Australia (RWCA) is looking for an Overlay Project Lead to support the delivery of the Men's Rugby World Cup 2027. Reporting to the Senior Overlay Manager and based in the Sydney CBD office, you will coordinate the planning, design and delivery of temporary infrastructure and venue overlay solutions across Match Venues and Team Bases. This is a hands-on project coordination role covering the full overlay lifecycle, from site assessments and design through to installation, operational readiness and decommissioning.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate planning and delivery of overlay and temporary infrastructure across assigned Team Base venues, aligned with tournament objectives.
  • Lead site inspections, scoping and operational readiness reviews to identify requirements, constraints and solutions.
  • Work with the Insourced Overlay Managing Contractor, venue representatives and suppliers on design development and implementation planning.
  • Review and maintain venue layouts, operational drawings, technical plans and mapping documentation.

  • Manage operational support activities such as project reporting, action tracking, accreditation coordination, workforce onboarding, travel logistics and meeting administration.

Required profile

  • At least 2 years' experience in event operations, venue overlay delivery, infrastructure projects or similar complex environments, managing competing priorities and multiple workstreams.
  • Experience supporting multi-stakeholder venue, event or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and project coordination skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven problem-solving, adaptability in fast-paced settings and willingness to travel and work outside standard hours.
  • Ability to obtain unlimited working rights in Australia.

Required skills

  • Interpretation of technical documentation, site plans and project schedules.
  • Project timeline, risk and reporting management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, report preparation and meeting facilitation.

What we offer

  • Fixed-term contract from February 2027 to November 2027.
  • Hybrid work: four days per week in the office (Monday to Thursday), becoming full-time in the office as the tournament approaches.
  • Weekly fresh fruit, wellbeing initiatives and Lunch & Learn sessions.
  • On-site showers, towels and hair tools.
  • Regular team events and celebrations.

The application closes on 4 November 2026. Applicants submit a CV (maximum 3 pages) through the online application link, and shortlisted candidates go through a two-stage interview in the Sydney office. Unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies are not accepted.
