Outpatient Operations Coordinator – Health Services

About the role

The Outpatient Operations Coordinator will lead the delivery of administrative and clerical services across designated outpatient and outreach clinics within Tasmania's health system. Working closely with the Manager of Outpatient Appointments and Theatre Booking Clerks, you will ensure smooth patient‑centred processes and support clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day reception, billing and training activities for outpatient and outreach clinics.
• Analyse operational data and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with outpatient clinic standards and new administrative procedures.
• Develop communication channels and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure timely information flow.
• Supervise the administration team, manage leave schedules, work rotations and priority task completion.
• Liaise with senior medical and professional staff on routine and complex administrative issues, negotiating solutions as needed.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives for administrative and clerical support services.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising administrative teams in a healthcare setting.
• Strong analytical ability to assess processes and recommend improvements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills.
• Leadership experience in implementing quality‑improvement strategies.
