OpenRoads Highways Designer

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced OpenRoads Highways Designer to join its Perth Transportation team. You will contribute to the planning, design and delivery of major highway and road infrastructure projects across Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop road and highway designs using Bentley OpenRoads Designer, creating geometric models, alignments, corridors and cross‑sections.
• Prepare design documentation, drawings and reports for concept, preliminary and detailed design stages while applying MRWA standards and guidelines.
• Coordinate design interfaces with drainage, structures, utilities, traffic and civil disciplines.
• Undertake design reviews, verification and quality‑assurance activities and support tender submissions and client presentations.

Required profile

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Design or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in road and highway design within a consulting or infrastructure environment.
• Demonstrated experience delivering projects to Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) standards.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Knowledge of MRWA Road Planning and Design Manual, Austroads Guides and road safety principles.
• Familiarity with Digital Engineering and BIM workflows (desirable).
