Open Pit Senior Geologist - 8:6 FIFO from Perth

About the role

Catalyst Metals, an Australian gold mining and development company, is recruiting an Open Pit Senior Geologist to lead all geological functions for its open pit operations. The role covers grade control, geological modelling, reconciliation and resource development, working closely with Mining, Planning, Metallurgy and Processing teams. It is a permanent full-time position with an 8:6 roster, departing from Perth by flight to a well-established camp.

Key responsibilities

• Lead grade control activities across open pit mining operations
• Develop, maintain and optimise geological and grade control block models
• Manage drill planning, scheduling, data collection, interpretation and QAQC processes
• Complete geological mapping and orebody interpretation for active mining areas
• Deliver daily, monthly, quarterly and biannual reconciliation reporting
• Collaborate with Mine Planning on mine design, scheduling and production, and with Processing and Metallurgy on mine-to-mill performance
• Mentor, coach and develop geology team members and promote technical excellence
• Drive continuous improvement, manage geology consumables and departmental costs, and prepare technical reports and presentations
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site standards

Required profile

• Degree in Geology from a recognised tertiary institution
• Current WA C Class driver's licence
• Extensive geological experience in mining, ideally in gold operations
• Proven leadership, mentoring and team development skills

Required skills

• Open pit grade control, resource modelling and geological interpretation
• Resource estimation, wireframing and reconciliation
• Geological modelling software such as Surpac, Vulcan and/or Leapfrog
• Communication, stakeholder management and report writing
