Ocean Freight Supervisor (Import) - Sydney

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is looking for an Ocean Freight Supervisor (Import) for its Sydney Station. The supervisor directs the team to deliver operational activities in line with global standard operating procedures, the service promise and regulatory compliance procedures, while helping the team meet productivity targets.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the team to complete operational activities according to SOPs, the service promise and regulatory compliance procedures, and help the team develop, maintain and achieve ocean freight productivity targets.
• Ensure quality KPIs are consistently met or exceeded and drive gross profit maximisation at team level.
• Build close business relationships with existing clients, seek upsell opportunities, retain customers and act as the first point of contact for irregularities with customers, suppliers or within the network.
• Ensure the team follows regulatory compliance procedures for commodities and shipment locations.
• Monitor performance with best-practice tools, identify process improvements and implement them to create efficiencies.
• Oversee the team to ensure customer satisfaction at every touchpoint, minimise costs on every job file and maximise gross profit.
• Provide training and guidance as needed, and resolve operational workflow issues, escalating only when unable to do so.

Required profile

• A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Supervisor Ocean Freight.
• Experience with CargoWise is advantageous.
• Full Australian right to work.
• Ability to focus on strengths, build a culture of trust, stay positive under change and work collaboratively.
