Nursing Officer – International Medical Assistance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our global medical assistance team as a Nursing Officer. In this hybrid role you will provide clinical expertise that supports operational decisions for travellers and expatriates worldwide, ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and review verbal and written medical updates for inpatient cases.
• Analyze treatment received and proposed plans of care in real time.
• Assess medical necessity, ongoing treatment requirements, and suitability for medical evacuation or repatriation.
• Identify and recommend cost‑containment strategies while safeguarding quality patient outcomes.
• Provide clinical guidance regarding acute versus pre‑existing medical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of past medical history and collaborate with operations teams to determine policy coverage and benefits.
• Partner with operations, equipment managers, and flight teams to ensure appropriate clinical staffing and equipment for escorted repatriations.
• Provide telephone and email‑based travel health advice to individual travellers and corporate clients.
• Advocate for patients, deliver health education when appropriate, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information.
• Support quality management initiatives, continuous improvement activities, and out‑of‑hours urgent precertification requests.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification.
• Significant clinical experience, preferably in acute care or travel health.
• Strong critical‑thinking and autonomous decision‑making abilities.
• Legal authorization to work in Australia (no visa sponsorship).
