About the role
Seven West Media is looking for a Northern Editor in Broome to lead four of the region's most respected newspapers, including the Broome Advertiser and the North West Telegraph. The role covers news gathering, editorial direction and leading a small team of reporters, and suits either an emerging newsroom leader or an experienced reporter keen on a sea change.
Key responsibilities
- Gather and write original news stories for print and online publication
- Develop positive relationships with key people and organisations
- Break news stories and create engaging content
- Steer the editorial direction of the Northern papers
- Interview and photograph subjects confidently and professionally
- Lead a small team of reporters
- Work with the senior regional leadership team and represent the company professionally
Required profile
- At least two years' experience as a reporter
- Able to work under high pressure
- Valid driver's licence
- Passion for local news

- Strong writing and communication skills
- An eye for detail and a focus on deadlines
