News Studio Co-Pilot

About the role

Seven West Media is looking for a driven News Studio Co-Pilot to join its Canberra News team and help deliver the highest professional standard of on-air presentation across local news and updates. You will work closely with News Editors, Chiefs of Staff, Journalists, Camera Operators and Presenters, and report directly to the Studio Team Leader. The position is based in Canberra.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and delivery of news content in collaboration with editorial and studio teams.
• Assist with directing and switching live and pre-recorded bulletins, promos and updates, giving clear communication to the crew.
• Contribute to pre-production planning, produce graphics and assist with editing stories and promos using broadcast software and equipment.
• Uphold broadcast quality standards, troubleshoot issues and make sure studio facilities and equipment are production-ready.
• Take part in team meetings, share ideas and help improve workflows.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in media, production, journalism or a related field.
• Passion for broadcast television and live production.
• Previous experience in live studio or broadcast environments (desirable).

Required skills

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to learn new systems, tools and workflows quickly.
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to grasp technical concepts.
